Privacy Policy
What we collect, what we do not, and the choices you have. This is a small site about keeping children safe online, so it would be a poor show if it were careless with your data.

The short version
If you choose "Essential only" in the cookie bar, or ignore it, nothing about your visit is measured at all. No analytics load, and no record of your visit is created.
If you accept analytics cookies, Google Analytics counts page views so we know which guides actually help. That is the only tracking on the site. We do not sell anything, run adverts, record your screen, or share your data with anyone for their own purposes.
The family agreement builder never sends anything anywhere. Your child's name stays on your device.
1. Who we are
TechSafe for Kids ("we", "our", "us") is a free, independent UK website run by one parent. We are the data controller for the small amount of personal data described below, and we handle it in line with the UK General Data Protection Regulation and the Data Protection Act 2018.

2. What we collect, and only if you agree
Everything in this section happens only after you accept analytics cookies. Decline, close the cookie bar, or do nothing, and none of it runs.
Your cookie choice
Whether you accepted or declined analytics cookies, and the date you chose. This is stored in your own browser and is never sent to us.
Which pages were viewed
The page address, the site you arrived from, and roughly how many people read each guide. This is what tells us which guides are actually useful.
Rough location and device
Country or region, and whether you are on a phone, tablet or computer. Not your street, and not a precise position.
We never ask for your name, your address, your phone number or your child's details, and there is nowhere on the site to give them to us.
3. What we do not collect
- Anything you type into the family agreement builder. Your child's name, your family name and the rules you pick stay in your browser. Nothing is uploaded, and the image or PDF is made on your own device.
- Email addresses. There is no newsletter and no sign-up form.
- Accounts. You never need one to use anything on this site.
- Contact form submissions. There is no contact form; email reaches a person directly.
- Payment or card details. Nothing on the site is for sale.
4. Why we are allowed to do this
Analytics cookies are not necessary for the site to work, so under the Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations they need your active permission. Our legal basis is your consent, and you can take it back at any time.
That is the only basis we rely on. If you do not give consent, no analytics run and there is nothing to withdraw.
Changing your mind: clear this site's data in your browser settings and the cookie bar will appear again on your next visit, letting you choose differently. You can also email us and we will delete any analytics records we can identify as yours.
5. Who else is involved
We do not sell your data and we do not pass it to anyone for their own marketing. A small number of suppliers process it on our behalf so the site can run and be measured:

Google Analytics is the only analytics tool on the site. There is no session recording, no advertising network and no third-party marketing tag.
Where the data goes: Google processes analytics data outside the UK, including in the United States. Those transfers rely on the UK's adequacy arrangements and Google's standard contractual clauses.
We may also disclose data if the law requires it, for example under a court order.
6. How long it is kept
Your cookie choice
Stays in your browser until you clear it. It never reaches us.
Analytics events
Two months. That is the shortest setting Google Analytics offers, and it is what we use.
Visitor records
Fourteen months, then deleted automatically. Aggregate totals, such as how many people read a guide, remain but cannot be traced to anyone.
7. Your rights
Under UK GDPR you can ask us to
- • Show you what we hold about you
- • Correct anything inaccurate
- • Delete it
- • Send it to you in a portable form
- • Restrict how we use it
- • Stop using it altogether
- • Honour a withdrawal of consent, at any time
In practice we hold very little that could identify you, so the most common answer to an access request is a short one.

We reply within one month, which is the limit the law sets.
If we get it wrong: tell us and we will put it right. You also keep every right the law gives you to take a complaint further.
8. Keeping it safe
The honest position is that the best protection here is how little we collect. On top of that:
- • The whole site is served over an encrypted connection
- • There is no visitor database, no login and no stored submissions, so there is nothing here to breach
- • Analytics runs only after you agree, and is limited to Google Analytics with its shortest retention setting
- • The admin area is password protected and completely separate from anything a visitor sees
- • Dependencies are kept up to date
9. Children
This site is written for parents and carers, not for children. There is nothing here that asks a visitor of any age for their name, contact details or anything else personal, so we do not knowingly hold information about a child.
If you think we have somehow ended up with information about your child, email privacy@techsafeforkids.com and we will delete it.
10. Changes to this policy
If what we collect changes, this page changes with it in the same update. We will move the date at the top, and if the change is significant we will say so on the site and ask for your permission again where the law requires it.
