    TalkTalk HomeSafe, set up properly

TalkTalk includes HomeSafe free with its broadband. Its Kids Safe filter blocks age-inappropriate sites for every device on your wifi, and its Homework Time feature can block social media and gaming sites at the times you choose. Here is how to set it up.

    Turn on TalkTalk Kids Safe

HomeSafe is managed from your TalkTalk online account.

    Steps:

    1. 1Sign in to My Account at talktalk.co.uk with the account holder login.
    2. 2Find the HomeSafe or internet security settings.
    3. 3Turn on Kids Safe and review the categories it filters.
    4. 4If useful, set up Homework Time to block social media and gaming sites during set hours, for example on school nights.
    5. 5Save your settings and test from a device on your wifi.

    Tip:

Homework Time is the standout feature: rather than arguing about social media on school nights, the network simply pauses those sites for the hours you pick.

What it covers, and what it does not

Kids Safe covers every device on your home broadband with one setting. It does not follow devices onto mobile data or other wifi networks, so pair it with on-device controls for phones.

    Worth knowing

Filters occasionally catch sites you are happy with. Add those to your allowed list rather than switching Kids Safe off entirely.
