Is Roblox OK for my child?

Not one game but millions of user-made experiences, which is why its safety varies so much. Rebuilt its parental controls across 2025 and 2026 around linked parent accounts and age-based tiers.

    What to actually watch for

    • User-made experiences vary wildly: most are harmless, some are not, and new ones appear constantly.
    • Chat with strangers, though 2026 age checks now sort players into age bands.
    • Robux spending pressure is engineered into many experiences.
    • Condo games (rule-breaking adult experiences) keep reappearing despite removals.

    The settings worth switching on

    1. Link your own parent account via Family Pairing and set a parental PIN.

    2. Set the content maturity level, the setting that matters most on Roblox.

    3. Set a monthly Robux spending limit, or keep spending off.

    4. For under-9s, the Roblox Kids tier keeps communication off by default; leave it that way.

    Our honest take

Manageable for primary-age children now that the account tiers and linked parent controls exist, provided you actually set them up: an unmanaged account is a very different proposition. Our full Roblox setup guide walks through every setting, and our gaming hub covers spending pressure.

    Frequently asked questions

Roblox is rated PEGI 7, and since 2026 it sorts under-16s into age tiers: Roblox Kids (5 to 8) with curated content and communication off by default, and Roblox Select (9 to 15) with age-appropriate settings. With a linked parent account and the right content maturity level, it is reasonable from around 7.

Since January 2026, chat requires an age check that sorts players into age bands, largely separating children and adults, and on the youngest tier communication is off entirely by default. No system is perfect, so keep the chat settings reviewed as your child gets older.

From your linked parent account you can set a monthly Robux limit or keep purchases off. Do it before the first "everyone else has Robux" conversation rather than after.
